Do you have a long document or news article you want to read but do not have enough patience to read it? You need a summary! With our Summary Maker tool, you can shorten extended pieces of text while still retaining the core info you need to know.
This tool is perfect for people trying to learn about a news story and just wanting the basics. It’s also helpful for researchers, journalists, students, or anyone who wants to spend less time poring through long passages.
Using this online service is incredibly simple. First, find yourself a long piece of text (no longer than 100,000 characters, though). News articles are a good place to start as are Wikipedia pages. Once you find some text, copy it and paste it into the text box that says “Paste your text here”.
Once pasted, hit the SUMMARIZE button. Our server will immediately parse through the text and intelligently remove information and words you don’t need. The text box will change and you’ll be left with a much shorter version of what you originally pasted.
With your new summary complete, you can hit the COPY button to grab it. You can also hit the CLEAR button and use the Summary Maker again. This tool is completely free to use, so feel free to make as many summaries as you wish.
The Summary Maker uses open-source summarization software. This software can scan through long passages of text much faster than a human and remove/re-organize parts it deems are not necessary. Software like this has been around for a long time and gets better and better as the years go by. At this point, it can reliably shorten long text passages while still producing natural-sounding language.
